In full: "Certain matters touching the Public Good requiring that the Senate of the United States should be convened on Wednesday, the fourth day of March, next, You are desired to attend at the Senate Chamber in the City of Washington on that day, then and there to receive and deliberate on such communications as shall be made to you." In fine condition.
The 21st United States Congress began its special session on March 4, 1829, the day that saw John Quincy Adams leave presidential office in favor of his bitter rival, Andrew Jackson. Adams famously refused to attend the ceremony, which marked the first time that it was held on the East Portico of the United States Capitol. An important document from Adams's 'lame duck' period, heralding the new Jacksonian era.
