Pope, born Eugenio Maria Giuseppe Giovanni Pacello (1876-1958), who reigned from 1939 until his death. During WWII he advanced several peace proposals, did much to aid war victims, and, following the war, maintained a staunch anti-Communist stand. Illuminated manuscript apostolic blessing, signed "Pius PP. XII," one page, 13.75 x 19.75, no date. An apostolic blessing to "Marco Antonio e Pasqualina Zizzamia" on the occasion of their 25th wedding anniversary, featuring a calligraphic inscription and an affixed portrait of Pope Pius XII. In very good to fine condition, with light dampstaining to the bottom edges.
