Pasteur writes to a veterinarian while beginning his study of rabies

ALS in France, signed “Pasteur,” one page, 5.25 x 8.25, stamp-dated June 1884. Untranslated handwritten letter to veterinarian J. Bourrel, who worked with Pasteur on the study of rabies. Mounted and matted with a portrait of Pasteur in his laboratory to an overall size of 17 x 14. In fine condition, with scattered small ink stains. At this time, Pasteur had just started his studies on rabies and was gathering dogs as laboratory specimens. Just one year later, Pasteur successfully inoculated the first human against rabies.
