Lengthy souvenir typescript of one of Auden's major works, "For the Time Being: A Christmas Oratorio," 59 pages, 8.25 x 11, signed at the conclusion in blue ballpoint, "W. H. Auden." The poem begins: "Darkness and snow descend; / The clock on the mantelpiece / Has nothing to recommend, / Nor does the face in the glass / Appear nobler than our own / As darkness and snow descend / On all personality." In fine condition, with the top few lines of the last page curiously trimmed off.
