Vintage circa 1965 glossy 8.5 x 6.5 promo photo of the Beatles taken by Bob Whitaker, nicely signed in black felt tip by the entire group: "John Lennon," "Paul McCartney," "George Harrison," and "Ringo Starr," and inscribed in the lower left in another hand, "With best wishes & thanks to Joe Collins from," with "The Beatles" printed in the lower border. In fine condition, with trimmed edges, pin holes at the corners, and a hint of light scuffing. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from noted Beatles expert Frank Caiazzo, noting: "The signatures date from late 1964/early 1965, and these are all excellent representative examples from that relatively scarce time period for Beatles autographs."
Also includes a certificate of authenticity from Tracks, detailing the history of the piece: "This photograph was not used for publicity purposes. However, on rare occasions, The Beatles would sign copies on a personal basis. In this particular instance, the recipient was Joe Collins, the theatrical impresario responsible for producing ‘The Beatles Christmas Show’ in 1963 and ‘Another Beatles Christmas Show’ in 1964. This photograph was signed as a ‘thank you’ to Collins shortly after their final performance of ‘Another Beatles Christmas Show’ on 16th January 1965. The group shot was captured by renowned British photographer Bob Whitaker in his London studio on 7th October 1964. Whitaker photographed The Beatles extensively between 1964 and 1966, and most famously produced the ‘Butcher Cover’ image which featured on the band’s 1966 U.S.-only album ‘Yesterday and Today.’ Signed photographs by The Beatles are exceedingly scarce, particularly from 1965. This original Bob Whitaker photograph, linked directly to the producer of The Beatles legendary Christmas Shows in London, is particularly unique."
