Two items: a TLS signed “John H. Glenn, Jr.,” one page, 8 x 10, early NASA letterhead, January 15, 1962, in full: “Thank you for your note of December 1, 1961. I have enclosed the autographed picture you requested and hope it is satisfactory. Thank you for your good wishes and my warmest personal regards to you”; and the referenced photograph, an official glossy 8 x 10 NASA photo of Glenn in a formal up-close pose, signed and inscribed in black ink, “Best regards to Arthur Bell — John H. Glenn, Jr., Mercury Astronaut.” In overall very good to fine condition, with light rippling to the photo. Roughly one month later, Glenn became the fifth human to fly in space when he piloted his Friendship 7 spacecraft during the Mercury-Atlas 6 mission on February 20, 1962.
