Partly-printed vellum DS as president, one page, 10.75 x 14.75, August 28, 1841. Scallop-topped ship’s pass issued for the "Ship Moctezuma of New Bedford, W. E. Tower master or commander…navigated with 30 men, To Pass with her Company, Passengers, Goods and Merchandize without any hinderance, seisure or molestation, the said Ship appearing by good testimony to belong to one or more of the Citizens of the United States." Boldly signed at the conclusion by President John Tyler and countersigned by Secretary of State Daniel Webster. The embossed white paper seal affixed to the lower left remains intact. In fine condition, with some light staining.
