Scarce Edison-signed limited edition of A Million and One Nights: The History of the Motion Picture

Signed book: A Million and One Nights: The History of the Motion Picture, Vol. 1. Limited edition, one of 327 copies issued. NY: Simon & Schuster, 1926. Clothbound hardcover with gilt-stamped titling, 7 x 9.75, 400 pages. Signed neatly in fountain pen by Thomas Edison with his classic umbrella signature on an opening prefatory page, "Thos. A. Edison." The colophon on the page’s opposite side is signed by the author, Terry Ramsaye, and the front pastedown bears two affixed ownership bookplates belonging to noted Hollywood couple Garson Kanin and Ruth Gordon, who both sign the lower example in black ink. Autographic condition: fine, with staining along the hinge edge. Book condition: VG/None, with rubbing to title on spine. A highly desirable example of this important early history of moving pictures, beginning prior to Edison's Kinetoscope and concluding with the silent film era.
