Superb vintage matte-finish 6.25 x 7.75 portrait of Prime Minister Churchill, affixed to the original 7.5 x 10 studio mount, signed on the mount in fountain pen, "Winston S. Churchill." The reverse bears a photographer's credit stamp attributed to Walter Stoneman. In fine condition, with lightly trimmed edges to the mount, and some light silvering to the image. An enduring portrait of Churchill captured at 10 Downing Street on April 1, 1941, the day Churchill was awaiting word on Germany's fateful invasion of Yugoslavia.
