Scarce pairing of signatures, "James Buchanan" and "Harriet Lane Johnston, 1868," on an off-white 4.75 x 3 slip affixed to a same-size mount. In very good to fine condition, with heavy toning from prior display. Johnston was the niece (1830-1903) of President James Buchanan, a lifelong bachelor, who acted as his first lady from 1857 to 1861.
