Sought-after unbranded baseball signed and inscribed on a side panel in fountain pen, "To My Pal Emory Perry, From Babe Ruth." In fine condition, with some areas of fading to ink; aside from mild overall toning, the baseball is a clean, single-signed example, uninhibited by lesser signatures, annotations, or spots of soiling. Emory Perry was well known as one of Ruth's close friends, and can be seen with the 'Great Bambino' in a number of photographs from the late 1940s. After Ruth's death in 1948, Perry led an unsuccessful campaign to have Opening Day in every ballpark be declared 'Babe Ruth Day' on an annual basis, with proceeds going to a planned Babe Ruth Foundation.
