Two items: a TLS signed "James Lovell," one page, 8 x 10.5, NASA letterhead, October 15, 1962, in part: "I'd like to thank you for your letter congratulating me on my selection as one of the new astronaut trainees. Letters such as yours are most gratifying and, I might add, an inspiration to me as I assume my new duties in the manned space flight research program"; and a block of four 4¢ Project Mercury postage stamps, signed in the margin in blue ballpoint, "Jim Lovell." In fine condition. Lovell had just recently been selected as an astronaut trainee as part of NASA Astronaut Group 2, announced on September 17, 1962.
