Description

LS signed “Henry Irving,” written in the hand of his secretary, Dracula author Bram Stoker, two pages on two adjoining sheets, 5 x 8, Lyceum Theatre letterhead, November 9, 1889. Stoker writes, in part: “I imagine that there is some misunderstanding about the Ozymandias opinion…I think it absolutely likely that his views of men are identical.” In fine condition, with a thin strip of toning to the first page. Stoker worked as business manager for Henry Irving's world-famous Lyceum Theatre in London between 1879 and 1898, where he supplemented his income by writing a large number of sensational novels—his most famous being the vampire tale Dracula, published in 1897.
