Description

ALS, four pages on two sheets, 5.75 x 7.75, Moulin de la Tuilerie letterhead, August 22, 1960. Handwritten letter to her secretary, Elsa Blaisdell, in part: “Thank you so much for my batch of news—it keeps me up to date with friends and foes. I was delighted to shed my cast after 6 weeks—we went to Biarritz where the weather was awful—the whole of France has had the worst summer in 50 years. It is very quiet in Paris now. I am amusing myself by seeing all the collections. Generally I am too lazy to go to more than two—it will be amusing to see what the U.S. chooses—their buyers are so clever especially Orbach (I think that’s the name). The Duke and I are well but alas not getting any younger—though feel the same….We shall be in New York in the spring—but we are thinking of going to South America in December.” Includes an original glossy 5.25 x 3.5 photo of the Duchess of Windsor having a picnic with the recipient in March 1946. In fine condition. Accompanied by the original hand-addressed mailing envelope and by a full letter of authenticity from JSA.
