Vintage matte-finish 8 x 10 double-weight photo of Velma Middleton in a three-quarter-length pose singing into a microphone, signed and inscribed in blue ballpoint, "To Nat, My pal, always, Velma Middleton.” In fine condition, with old tape in the left border. Originates from the collection of Nat Singerman, a professional photographer and co-owner of the Character Arts Photo Studio in Cleveland, Ohio, during the 1940s and 1950s. During this period he met and befriended many jazz legends who performed at clubs in and around Cleveland and Chicago. He took many photographs of the performances as well as numerous candid shots taken backstage.
