Description

American publicist and diplomat (1784-1859) known for his political writings, who served as Consul General of the United States in Paris from 1844 to 1851; on his death, he was described as 'the literary and intrinsical link between Jefferson, Madison and Hamilton and the men of the present day.' Manuscript DS, signed “Robert Walsh, U.S. Consul,” three pages on two adjoining sheets, 8.75 x 13.5, April 5, 1848. Walsh certifies a manuscript copy of 1787 extracts pertaining to French military matters. In very good to fine condition, with edge chipping, and splitting to the intersecting folds.
