Description

ALS signed “M. V. Buren,” one page, 8 x 10, October 7, 1818. Handwritten letter to G. Powers sent by Martin Van Buren as the Attorney General of New York, in full: “I approve your course but am solicitous for all reasonable dispatch, such cases as cannot be brought before Jan’y then will not be in a State for trial at the next circuit. I wish you to keep this in mind. On the other subjects spoken of in your letter I will think—yours of the 4th ultimo was not rc’d by me until yesterday. You have doubtless before this rec’d the adjustments I sent by John B. Yates.” In very good condition, with creasing, staining, toning, paper loss to the integral address leaf, and splitting to the multiple intersecting folds.
