Ringo Starr was the first narrator for the beloved children's television series Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends, narrating the first and second series and playing Mr. Conductor on Shining Time Station. He left the show after Shining Time Station's first series ended in 1990 to focus on his music career and to tour with the All Starr Band, after which he was replaced by Michael Angelis in the UK and George Carlin in the US. In 2009, he returned to voice Thomas in The Official BBC Children in Need Medley.
