Important German-born British artist (1922-2011) best known for his distinctive, often enigmatic portraits ALS, one page on a 4 x 5.75 postcard of his 'Nude with Leg Up (1992),' November 12, 2007. Handwritten letter to Elizabeth Brown, in part: "Thank you for your letter. Would you like to have lunch with me on Monday the 19th November. Please come round to the house at one o'clock." In very fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, addressed in his own hand, and a letter of provenance from the recipient, in full: I was very surprised to receive an invitation to lunch on a card from Lucian Freud for 19th November 2007. I had written to him asking if he would like me to pose for him to highlight breast cancer and a mastectomy. The invite was on a postcard featuring Freud's well-known painting of Leigh Bowery. I met Lucian at the house in Kensington Church Street and we proceeded to lunch at Clarkes a restaurant a few doors away where Lucian was obviously a regular."
