American jazz tenor saxophonist (1904-1969), nicknamed 'Hawk' and occasionally 'Bean,' who was strongly associated with the swing music and big band era, and played a role in the development of bebop in the 1940s. Sought-after DS, three pages, 8.5 x 11, December 1, 1962. Contract between Columbia Records and Coleman Hawkins in which the latter agrees to render his services "with Clark Terry at a recording session, or sessions…on such dates during December 1962" and record a "Minimum of six compositions." Signed at the conclusion in blue ink by Hawkins, who adds his social security number below. In very good to fine condition, with intersecting folds.
