Classic actress (1910-1992) remembered for her roles in Frankenstein and The Public Enemy. Exquisite original landscape painting entitled "My Tower" by actress Mae Clarke, accomplished in oil with a palette knife on an 11.5 x 23.5 canvas panel, signed in the lower right corner in paint, "Mae Clarke, 63." The painting portrays the ruins of an ancient stone tower with arched doorway, set in a landscape of boulders with a twisting tree on the right side. Executed in a fine impressionistic fashion, Clarke's skillful use of the palette knife has given the work a wonderful impasto texture. Clarke writes the painting's info on the reverse, including the title, "My Tower," and year of completion, "1963." Presented in its original frame to an overall size of 15 x 27.25. In fine condition, with minor flaking to surface.
