Handwritten letter to Mr. Stern, in part (translated): "You must have received the portrait which you so kindly requested for your…If I delayed its shipment it's because I wanted to have it redone; but it came out even worse and the photographs cannot be taken without a natural pose so I'm forced to settle for this one. I wanted to send it to you on that date which will always be special to me and I was happy to have a chance to assure you of my inalterable and devoted gratitude which I will always feel towards the Orpheon and its dear director."
