British military officer and statesman (1850-1916) who served as Victoria's aide-de-camp in Sudan, commanded the British forces during the Boer War, and was appointed secretary of state for war at the outbreak of World War I. Uncommon 4.25 x 6.5 cabinet photo of Kitchener in uniform by Elliott & Fry of London, boldly signed in ink, "H. H. Kitchener, Lt. Col." In very good to fine condition, with scattered foxing, and a light scuff touching Kitchener's chin.
