Partial DS, one page, 8.5 x 11, February 1, 1968. Last page of an agreement between Big Brother and the Holding Company and CBS/Columbia Records, signed at the conclusion in blue ballpoint by the classic lineup of Janis Joplin, Dave Getz, James Gurley, Sam Andrew, and Peter Albin. In fine condition, with filing holes to edges, a few later pencil emendations to the text, and several pinholes to upper left corner.
Columbia released Big Brother's second studio album, Cheap Thrills, in August 1968. The record spent eight weeks at number one, and the lead single, 'Piece of My Heart,' also became a huge hit. The band's success was short-lived however, as Joplin announced that she would be leaving the band that fall. Their last show together would be on December 1, 1968.
