Swedish explorer (1865-1952) who mapped the Himalayas and other regions in Central Asia. Two items: a scarce 4.25 x 6.5 cabinet photo of Hedin in a bust-length pose by Gosta Florman of Stockholm, neatly signed in ink, "Sven Hedin, 1903"; and an ALS in Swedish, signed "Sven Hedin," one page, 5.25 x 8.25, March 26, 1903, in part (translated): "I hereby return the portrait photo duly signed together with many kind wishes." In very good to fine condition, with light creasing, scuffing, and a red stain to the photo; and some creasing and partial edge splits to the letter.
