American military officer and business executive (1879-1969) under whose leadership Sears, Roebuck & Co. grew from a mail-order business to the world's largest merchandiser. Scarce and desirable TLS signed "R. E. Wood," one page, 7 x 10.5, Sears, Roebuck and Co. letterhead, July 5, 1929. Letter to W. S. Carroll, in full: "There is no immediate rush. Nelson and Houser are both on the Coast and will not be back until the 10th. I suggest that you come in to see us all on July 20th." In fine condition, with staple holes to the upper left corner, and a small stain to the lower blank area.
