TLS signed "Richard Cardinal Cushing," one page, 8.5 x 11, Cardinal's Residence letterhead, no date but circa 1953-1960. Letter acknowledging an alms donation by Senator and Mrs. John F. Kennedy, "given in loving memory of your departed loved one." In part: "It is for the purchase of Vestments to be worn by a priest when offering the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for his spiritual charges in some distant place…We have over one-hundred priests affiliated with the Missionary Society of Saint James the Apostle in the Latin American countries of Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador…Begging you accept my own sympathy in your bereavement and promising to remember you and your dear departed in my Masses." In very good to fine condition, with some light creasing. Accompanied by a clipped magazine photo showing Cushing with the Kennedys.
