Handwritten letter to the Earl of Lonsdale, marked "Confidential," about political business with George Cavendish-Bentinck. In part: "G.B. shall not be forgotten. I hope, some day, to push him on for his own sake: but, now, it shall be four yours. He must remember, that we are three in a bed, & not expect much. The thing is to get into the saddle. I would have called on you, but every moment has been occupied; & the absence of the Court from London, & the preparations for the wedding, wh: engross the Queen, render the labors of forming a government, always vast, unusually severe & prolonged." In fine condition. Disraeli refers to the wedding of Princess Helena (Queen Victoria's third daughter) and Prince Christian of Schleswig-Holstein, which he attended the next day. On the 6th, Derby formed a third Conservative government, and Disraeli was again made Chancellor of the Exchequer.
