A major figure in natural sciences research in the early 19th century, he was instrumental in establishing the fields of comparative anatomy and paleontology through his work in comparing living animals with fossils. Manuscript DS in French, signed "B. G. Cuvier," one page, 8.75 x 13.25, June 6, 1831. Untranslated Institut de France document signed at the conclusion by Cuvier. In fine condition, with scattered soiling and a small tear to the top edge.
