Flagg, signed at the conclusion by James C. Fargo as president and William C. Fargo as assistant secretary. A handsome certificate illustrated with a vignette of a watchdog, used by the company to symbolize trust and security. In fine condition.
William Fargo (1818-1881) co-founded the important financial firms of American Express Company and Wells Fargo with his business partner, Henry Wells. His brother, J. C. Fargo (1829-1915), served as a president of American Express for 30 years and pioneered the development of traveler's cheques.
