Folsom of Alabama, in part: "In the rush to meet the June 30th deadline for my book, your letter mistakenly became part of the huge stack of correspondence the acknowledgment of which I was forced to postpone. It has just now come to the top, and I hasten to thank you for your thoughtfulness in inviting me to attend the Fall Rally of Young Democrats in Alabama. Nothing would please me more than to be able to be with you, but my calendar for this fall is already so full that I am not in a position to make any further commitments."
