German World War I fighter ace (1885-1944) who is credited with 20 aerial victories, including eight against enemy observation balloons. He commanded three different jagdstaffeln (squadrons) as well as a jagdgruppe (fighter wing). Vintage matte-finish 3.25 x 5.25 postcard photo of Otto Schmidt in his military uniform, signed in fountain pen. Schmidt has added a handwritten note to the reverse, which he has also signed. In fine condition, with light silvering to the perimeter.
