Four commemorative covers with cachets depicting the various members of NASA Astronaut Group 9, announced on May 29, 1980, each signed in ink by the astronauts depicted. Signers are: Jerry Ross, Michael Smith, Sherwood Spring, and Robert Springer; Mary Cleave, Bonnie Dunbar, William Fisher, Guy Gardner, and Ronald Grabe (with an inscription in an unknown hand); James Bagian, John E. Blaha, Charles Bolden, Jr., Roy Bridges, and Franklin Chang Diaz; and David Hoffman, David Leetsma, John Lounge, Bryan O'Connor, and Richard Richards. In very fine condition. All nineteen of these astronauts made flights during the Space Shuttle program; Smith tragically met his end in the Challenger disaster.
