French politician and mathematician (1750-1795) who developed the French Republican Calendar. ALS in French, signed “G. Romme,” one page, 6.5 x 8.25, January 16, 1794. Handwritten letter with reference to the "affair of Louis Capet." In very good to fine condition, with overall foxing. The deposed King Louis XVI was referred to as 'Citizen Louis Capet' during the four months prior to his execution—an interesting and historic letter.
