Description

Free-French general (1902-1947) during the Second World War who, after the end of World War II in Europe, was given command of the French Far East Expeditionary Corps, and became Marshal of France posthumously in 1952. He represented France at the surrender of the Japanese Empire in Tokyo Bay. Scarce vintage glossy 10.25 x 8 photo of Philippe Leclerc de Hauteclocque as the commanding general of the French 2nd Armored Division, entering the town of Rambouillet en route to Paris, signed in black ink, "Leclerc." Stamp-dated on the reverse to August 26, 1944. In fine condition, with scattered light creasing.
