TLS, one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal Fidelity and Deposit Company of Maryland letterhead, January 15, 1924. Letter to friend and business associate Colonel Edgar A. Hamilton, in part: "I want to call your attention to some interesting figures relating to depository bonds running to the State of New York, which I have received from the office of the State Treasurer, Honorable George K. Shuler, Albany. The following figures related only to the first six companies-17 other companies have written depository bonds for the State, but they are all much smaller amounts…You will note from the above that the F & D Co. has gained over $3,000,000, the National Surety only $684,000 while the American and U.S.F. & C. Co. have both lost over $1,000,000 each and the Aetna has lost over $700,000. From being in 4th place by over $1,000,000, we are now in 3rd place and nearly $4,000,000 ahead of the next company. I hope that within the next year we will pass the American and continue to gain on the National." In fine condition.
