Union major general (1822-1901) who fought at Antietam and Second Bull Run. Porter was court-martialed in 1863 for disobeying an order from Gen. Pope to attack but was exonerated in 1878. Excellent 2.5 x 4 carte-de-visite photo of Porter in uniform by R. W. Addis, boldly signed in ink, "F. J. Porter, Brig. Genl. & Col. U.S.A." In fine condition.
