English actor (1877-1959) best remembered for his role as Kris Kringle in the Christmas film Miracle on 34th Street, for which he won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Vintage matte-finish 8 x 10.5 photo of the British actor with a cigarette in hand, signed in fountain pen, "Edmund Gwenn, 'Laburnum Grove,' 1933-34." In very good condition, with clipped corners, a few small tears and some creasing to borders, and a tack hole to top edge.
