Partly-printed DS as president, signed “R. B. Hayes,” one page, 16.25 x 13.25, March 16, 1877. President Hayes appoints Francis W. Seeley as "Postmaster at Lake City in the County of Wabasha, State of Minnesota." Signed at the conclusion by Rutherford B. Hayes, and countersigned by Postmaster General David M. Key. The gold foil Post Office Department seal remains affixed to the lower left. Double-matted and framed to an overall size of 23.75 x 20.75. In very good to fine condition, with toning along the central vertical fold, and faint offset from the seal touching the signature.
