European Jewish financier (1777-1836) who founded his family's famous banking dynasty and stood among the wealthiest men in the world. Partly-printed DS in Russian, English, and French, signed “N. M. Rothschild, Contractor,” one page both sides, 9.5 x 14.25, March 1, 1822. Document for a loan at five percent to the Russian government valued at 720 rubles. Signed vertically in the upper right margin by Rothschild as the backer of the loan. Also signed on both sides by a few other officials. In good to very good condition, with paper loss to the left edge, chips and tears to the edges, and fold separations, some of which have been repaired with old tape.
