Appealing collection of items related to baseball player turned popular evangelist Billy Sunday, which is highlighted by a bold fountain pen signature, “Keep close to Jesus all the way, W. A. Sunday,” on an off-white 5 x 6.5 sheet, and a vintage glossy 3.5 x 5.5 postcard photo of his wife, Helen Thompson Sunday, who has signed in the lower border in black ink, “Mrs. W. A. Sunday.”
Included with the above items is a vintage glossy 6.5 x 8.5 wire photo of the Sundays meeting with actress Mae West at a movie studio, with Billy, a staunch prohibitionist, stepping dramatically on a beer keg, and a grouping of 18 vintage postcard photos of Sunday at various stages of his career, glossy and matte-finish, each approximately 3.5 x 5.5, with seven filled out on the reverse in another hand; the front of a few of these postcards bear facsimile examples of Sunday’s autograph. In overall fine condition, with some wear to edges of postcards. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, which is addressed in Sunday's own hand.
