Revolutionary War-dated manuscript DS, signed “O. Ellsworth,” one page, 8.25 x 6.25, March 21, 1777. Pay order issued to Treasurer John Lawrence, in part: "Pay James Brown, or order, the Sum of Eight Pounds Nineteen Shillings & four pence Lawfull Money for his Expence of Likeness in the Northern Army." Signed at the conclusion by Oliver Ellsworth and Ezekiel Williams as members of the Pay-Table Committee. Endorsed on the reverse by Brown to confirm receipt of payment. In fine condition.
