Gene Cernan’s flown page removed from the CSM Lunar Landmark Map book carried aboard the command module America during the Apollo 17 mission. The page measures 8 x 10.5 and is labeled in the lower right corner, "1st Edition November, 1972 (DMAAC)," with the reverse bearing an affixed Eugene A. Cernan Space Collection label, "The crew used this flown Apollo 17 CSM Lunar landmark Map to study the Moon from lunar orbit," signed in black ink by Cernan. The page features two overhead views of the large lunar impact crater Gagarin, with lower border bearing a handwritten notation, “Bright Baby = 5 Km,” and printed text: “Gagarin (3 of 3), Study the Bright Baby on the western rim of Gagarin to specifically answer the following: 1. Are the dark zones on the rim black rays or are they shadow effects? 2. Is the material in the floor the result of in situ cooling of a melt or is it an unusually level debris?” In fine condition.
