Original 1958 UK tour program for Buddy Holly and the Crickets, 8.5 x 10.5, six pages, signed on the back cover in black ballpoint by Buddy Holly and Jerry Allison, and in blue ballpoint by Joe Mauldin. The inside of the program is also signed by Des O'Connor and Lynne Adams. The consignor notes that the signatures were obtained backstage at the Regal Theatre in Hull, Yorkshire, England, on March 19, 1958. In very good to fine condition, with some light staining and overall handling wear.
Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks, and by a detailed letter of provenance from the original recipient, which reads: ‘‘On 2nd August 1957 I commenced working at The Danum Hotel in Doncaster as Junior Bookkeeper Receptionist. Many celebrities stayed at the hotel…The HIGHLIGHT however must be when BUDDY HOLLY & The Crickets came to stay at The Danum…Buddy Holly’s Manager was very friendly and offered us tickets for one of the shows. Although they were playing at The Gaumont Theatre in Doncaster, we were given tickets for one of the shows at The Regal Cinema in Hull, Yorkshire on 19th March 1958. We had wonderful seats and watched and listened to the most incredible music we had ever heard. Buddy Holly was a sensation! After the show we were invited backstage by his Manager and met Buddy Holly & The Crickets who all signed my programme…Meeting Buddy Holly has remained an OUTSTANDING memory for me.” Very few signed Buddy Holly programs with such stellar provenance have come to market.
