I feel a sense of personal bereavement because I have long known Mr. Ryan and highly esteemed him for his abilities and character and his fine record of useful service to the public. Mrs. Harding joins me in extending to you, and to your family, sincere condolence in this hour of your bereavement." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original White House mailing envelope. Daniel J. Ryan, who had passed away a week earlier, was a Republican politician in the Ohio House of Representatives (1884-1888) and Ohio Secretary of State (1889-1892).
