Description

DS, signed “W. C. Fields,” two pages, 8.5 x 11, January 7, 1944. Document submitted to Paramount Pictures, consenting to the use of his name "in the dialogue of your forthcoming photoplay now entitled Road to Utopia." The document outlines a scene where Chester (played by Bob Hope) attempts to hiccup; when he can't, Duke (played by Bing Crosby) says: "Quick! Think of something! Somebody!" Chester replies: "Who?" Duke says: "W. C. Fields!," and the effort succeeds. Signed at the conclusion in green fountain pen by W. C. Fields. In fine condition. Accompanied by the Paramount transmittal letter to Fields's agent, Charles Beyer.
