Description

DS in Spanish, two pages, 8.25 x 13, February 17, 1959. Document concerning funding for "the erection of the Great National Monument to Major General Antonio Maceo y Grajales," signed at the conclusion in ink by Prime Minister Fidel Castro, President Manuel Urrutia Lleo, and the minister of finance; also initialed by all three in the left margin of the first page. The blue seal and ribbon affixed at the conclusion remain intact. In very good to fine condition, with trimmed edges, and file holes to the left edge. Antonio Maceo Grajales was second-in-command of the Cuban Army of Independence, killed in action at Punta Brava in 1896 while fighting against Spain in the Cuban War of Independence.
