Description

Influential French physicist (1775-1836) who pioneered the discovery and understanding of electromagnetism; a unit of electric current was named in his honor. Bold ink signature, "A. Ampere,” on an off-white 7 x 9.25 sign-in page, headed, "Signatures des Membres Presens," listing the members present at a meeting of the Société Philomathique on December 17, 1808. Also signed by Pariset, Gay-Lussac, Collet-Descostils, ("Fred") Cuvier, (Georges) Cuvier, Petit-Thouars, Thenard, Silvestre, Boit, Poisson, Brongniart, Peron, Brouchart, Tonnellier, Tremery, Deleuze, Dumeril. In very good to fine condition, with toning to the edges.
