Description

(Walt Disney Studios, 1940) Excellent original production drawing of Pinocchio, Geppetto, Figaro, Cleo, and Jiminy Cricket from Pinocchio, used for the production layout of the book Walt Disney's Pinocchio, written by Dorothy Walter Baruch and published by D. C. Heath and Company in 1940. The somber scene shows the five characters shortly after their harrowing escape from the jaws of Monstro the sperm whale, with all turning their attention to the temporarily lifeless body of Pinocchio. Accomplished in graphite and colored pencil on untrimmed 12 x 10 animation paper, which is marked "#50—Page 87" and signed in the lower left by artist Ollie Johnston. Total character image measures 6.25 x 4. In fine condition, with light creasing, and staple holes to upper left.
