Significant document issued to Lieutenant-General Malandin, in part (translated): "During these unforgettable victorious days Ukrainian people send their heartfelt gratitude to the heroic and valorous Red Army, to its warriors - bogatyrs of the Russian land, for liberating them from the German-Fascist barbarians. Red Army's brilliant victories on the immense war fields, destructive blows to the armor clad enemy, unknown in history skills in military campaign tactics and its adamant offensive spirit have forever glorified the heroic soldiers and commanders of the Red Army, who, under the leadership of the Victory Marshal Stalin, have achieved worldwide historical fame."
